Hoid's magical appearance and secret book one
Finally the year has begun and with it beckons an entire new year, 2023, chalk full of Brandon Sanderson content. The original plan was to have the hardcover of Secret Project #1 - Tress of the Emerald Sea be the first box to arrive to the Kickstarter backers; however due to supply chain issues, fate, or some Hoid magic, we are lucky enough to receive his box first alongside the digital versions of Tress. Only the first box and story of the year down, but I am already excited and happy with where the journey is heading.

Hoid's Crate
The January Hoid crate came in a creative Dragonsteel cardboard box, designed to look covered in scales and then sealed with a Hoid sticker. The inside of the box is decorated with quotes from Wit and Sanderson. The contents of the crate include a Hoid for President t-shirt, Hoid mousepad, "Hoid Was Here" golden seal stickers, Wit sticky notes, and a Hoid Cosmere character pin. Overall I'm happy with the crate and I absolutely love this character. I have to find a way to display all of these wonderful Cosmere pins that I have been accumulating.

Quick review
Tress of the Emerald Sea is an amazing coming of age tale, and stand alone novel that fans of The Princess Bride will love. The tale takes place on a never before seen planet in the Cosmere and brings with it a closer look into the magic of the Aethers. Even though it is narrated by Hoid, and taking place within the Cosmere, I feel that it can be enjoyed by anyone no matter how many other Sanderson books they have under their belt. The story can come across as more of a fairy tale in the beginning with a YA feel, but quickly shifts into something more grand. It's a magical adventure filled with hilarious and enlightening moments.
This book deserves a full review, as I am sure all of the secret novels will. Until I can get that written, I encourage you to give Secret Project #1 a read. It's a wonderful tale, written by a master craftsman. Some important life lessons can be learned off of paper for those willing. Don't continue to put off those things you have always wanted to do, who knows you might even excel!
